The Sonic Youth co-founder's duo with Bill Nace prepares for its Matador debut.
Sonic Youth, the band Kim Gordon co-founded in the early-1980s, is no more. (At least for now). But Gordon's been busy making music with guitarist Bill Nace under the name Body/Head. The duo have had a few limited edition releases in recent years, but they plan to put out a new album, 'Coming Apart,' via Matador on September 10.
Body/Head's previous output has been improvised, instrumental noise-rock, with Gordon and Nace exchanging manic, piercing guitar squalls. But, according to a statement from Matador, the new album will feature proper “songs.” Gordon has been singing more, too. Interesting...
'Coming Apart' will still most definitely be noisy as hell, though. Check out the video above to hear what happened at a recent Body/Head show at Brooklyn's Saint Vitus Bar.
