Back in the day, when MTV was still a resource for new music, one of the best shows was Yo! MTV Raps. A mix of music videos, live performances and interviews, from 1988 - 1995, Yo! MTV Raps was the place to catch up on the latest hip-hop news.
Stüssy has produced a two-part documentary on Yo! MTV Raps called 'We Were All Watching.' It features interviews with the Roots' ?uestlove, Rakim, Gang Starr's DJ Premier, Alchemist, MC Lyte, and more. Also featured is Ed Lover, who hosted the show with Fab Five Freddy and Doctor Dré (not Dr. Dre).
Part one, 'The Importance Of Yo! MTV Raps' (above), focuses on the show's contributions to the rise of hip-hop culture. The second part, 'Fashion In The Golden Age Of Hip Hop' (below), documents hip-hop fashion. Watch, learn, reminisce.
