Bruno Mars will be the latest pop superstar to play the NFL Super Bowl XLVIII Halftime show, joining an exclusive list of entertainers that have played the event, including Beyonce, Madonna, Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake and Michael Jackson.
The NFL announced the news at an event held in Times Square in New York City and broadcast live on FOX NFL Sunday. Super Bowl XLVIII will be held just across the Hudson River at the MetLife Stadium in New Rutherford, New Jersey, home of the New York Jets and the New York Giants.
According to the Star-Ledger, the Super Bowl will be the second time Mars, 27, has performed at the stadium. He also played in 2011.
Asked by FOX if he planned any surprises this time around, the 14-time Grammy nominee replied, "It's five months from now, so I got a couple of phone calls to make."
