Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' video came in like a wrecking ball and wrecked a Vevo record.
Released on Monday, Miley Cyrus' 'Wrecking Ball' earned the 24-hour most-viewed record for a Vevo video.
With 10.9 million views, that prestigous title was previously held by One Direction's 'Best Song Ever' video. But Miley's Terry Richardson directed clip, in which she swings around naked on a wrecking ball, earned 19.3 million views the day it dropped.
Miley Cyrus' equally controversial video 'We Can't Stop,' released in June, held the 24-hour most-viewed record before One Direction took the title in July with 'Best Song Ever.' Currently, 'We Can't Stop' has nearly 189 million views. Right now, two days after its release, 'Wrecking Ball' has 47.6 million views. Will 'Wrecking Ball' surpass MIley's previous effort?
Either way, it has been a big year so far for Miley Cyrus, with her twerking 'We Can't Stop' video, her scandalous Robin Thicke-twerking performance at the MTV VMAs, and now her new naked-on-a-wrecking-ball, hammer-licking, record-breaking video.
Her new album, 'Bangerz,' is out October 4. It is set to feature guest appearances by Britney Spears, Nelly, Future, Big Sean and French Montana. We cannot even imagine what she will do in the meantime.
