Four Tet snuck a previously unreleased song with Burial into his 8-hour Rinse FM session on Sunday.
Red Bull Music Academy participant Four Tet will release his new album, 'Beautiful Rewind,' next week in the US. On Sunday, Kieran Hebden, a.k.a. Four Tet, DJ'd for eight hours on Rinse FM. Among the many songs he played was a previously unreleased collaboration with the mysterious London producer Burial (who is so mysterious, in fact, that some conspiracy theorists believe Hebden, who denies the rumor, is the one secretly making music under the name).
Four Tet and Burial have collaborated together before, most recently on the song 'Nova' in 2012. The new track Hebden shared is hot and dense and spooky. In the middle of it, a massive wall of echo and static drifts in to temporarily disrupt the beat, but the beat eventually returns from wherever it went.
Speaking of Burial, we recently found out during our interview with Lorde the she is a big fan. Lorde, the New Zealand artist whose dazzling 'Pure Heroine' album dropped last week, told us the following when we asked her about her early influences:
"When I started making music, I saw myself primarily as a writer. The lyrics, and what I had to say, were most important to me. But I did have musical inspirations. At the time I’d just fallen in love with electronic music, artists like James Blake, Jai Paul and Burial."
Since she is such a big fan, we would bet she has heard this new Burial and Four Tet song. We also bet she digs it.
