The Sri Lankan rapper is all about 'Y.A.L.A.'
M.I.A. does not believe in YOLO. Why? Because she's Sri Lankan and believes in reincarnation. Or as she raps in 'Y.A.L.A.,' her latest song from 'Matangi,' "If you only live once why we keep doing the same shit? Back home where I come from we keep being born again and again and then again and again."
Drake just got pwned.
Cue the sad face.
M.I.A., however, is far from sad. 'Y.A.L.A.' stands for 'You Always Live Again,' and it's the second happy track that M.I.A. has released from 'Matangi,' which comes out November 5 on Interscope. 'Y.A.L.A.' is not quite as happy as the first single, 'Come Walk With Me,' which had a very '60s throwback sound and feel. 'Y.A.L.A.' is a party banger. Both are promising signs for 'Matangi,' which is a long time coming.
In other M.I.A. news, the Sri Lankan singer-rapper is a new addition to the first-ever YouTube Music Awards, taking place on November 3, via livestream, obviously. She joins Eminem, Lady Gaga, Arcade Fire, Earl Sweatshirt, Aviici, Tyler, the Creator, and Walk Off the Earth.
