Ahead of the World Finals in Toronto, the Red Bull Thre3style judges tell us what they want to see.
With just a few weeks to go until the Red Bull Thre3style World Finals in Toronto, the DJ contenders will no doubt be working out how to best impress the judges.
Fortuitously, two of the panel – Skratch Bastid and Grandtheft – know exactly what they want to see and they’ve shared their checklist with us in the video above.
Indicative of their respective backgrounds, the Canadian-based disc-spinners are on the lookout for battling skill and inspired song selection.
"I built club nights off of building my name from battles,” says DMC turntable competitor Skratch Bastid , himself no stranger to all-out aural warfare. “So, I know for these up and coming DJs that it's invaluable experience."
Grandtheft, meanwhile, believes in the power of great track selection as the secret of party-rocking supremacy. "The bar is so high these days,” he says. “When I step to judge it, I take it seriously because I know that people have put a lot of time and effort into it."
Check out the video in the player above for more competitor insight and join Skratch Bastid and Grandtheft along with fellow judges DJ Jazzy Jeff, Kid Koala, and Jubilee in Toronto from November 4 to 9.
