Prince will (purple) reign in London

He’ll be hitting the big city on a tour of iconic venues with 3RDEYEGIRL.

The last time Prince hit London proper, it was the summer of 2007 when he took great pleasure in rolling out all the classics during 21 nights at the 20,000 capacity O2 Arena and a secret gig at KOKO.

Now he’s all set to return to the Big Smoke, but this time he’s doing things a little differently with 3RDEYEGIRL in tow. Starting from February 3, the Purple One and friends will be hitting the capital to celebrate the release of the all-female rock trio's debut album, PLECTRUMELECTRUM.

Prince is planning on playing a series of hush-hush "iconic venues" in and around London. What constitutes an "iconic venue" in his book is clearly ill-defined as the only confirmed gig so far is in the living room of 24-year-old London singer-songwriter Lianne LaHavas.

The unlikely setting for Prince’s grand return to the UK was apparently agreed upon when Lianne met the superstar during her 2013 tour of the US. The two struck up a friendship after jamming together at Prince's Paisley Park Studio in Minneapolis and have kept in touch ever since.

We can only imagine where the rest of his tour will take us. Needless to say though, it could be in a public lavatory and we’d still pile in to watch Prince retake the throne.
