BOYFRNDZ (pronounced "boyfriends") is a rock band from Austin, Texas, that has a new album out titled "Impulse" on May 27 through Brutal Panda.
The trio — Scott Martin (guitars/vocals), Aaron Perez (drums) and Joseph Raines (bass) — has toured and played shows with artists like Marnie Stern, Trail of Dead and Deftones's Chino Moreno's PALMS. For this new album, they worked with producer Jeff Zeigler, who has made studio magic happen in the past with The War On Drugs, Kurt Vile and Nothing, among others.
Today we're pleased to premiere a new song, "High and Tight," from BOYFRNDZ's new album. Push play to listen below, and keep scrolling to see what band member Martin had to say about the tune.
"This song was a total accident," says Martin. "I was searching for riff ideas while I was in the space with Aaron one afternoon and this one was in the same key, but he just went right into that insane drum section in the verse. It just had to be its own song after that."
It's a quick, straight-ahead tune with very little variation, but its hard driving focus is intense and frantic and zipping along with its rapid drum fire will probably make you want to burst into flames.
You can preorder BOYFRNDZ's "Impulse" over at Brutal Panda's website. Also, take a look at the band's upcoming tour dates below.
