This year has been a good one for snowboard videos. Films like Nike’s NeverNot, Absinthe’s Dopamine and web released videos like Jake Blauvelt’s Naturally and The Grilosodes have given riders plenty of motivation to get out and go ride. This winter has also seen a handful of non-traditional films that have done an amazing job of examining snowboarding from a different perspective. Works like The Crash Reel and Far From Home have shown us that there is much more to snowboarding then backcountry kickers and slopestyle courses.
This teaser for a film called Definition: Snowboarding is really cool. This documentary film by Matt Devino takes a look at the reasons why we all snowboard. While the masses may only see snowboarding through the X-Games, Dew Tour and other contests there is much more that goes into the snowboard life style.
Here is what Matt says about the project:
What is Snowboarding? A sport? A lifestyle? An art form? It's a simple question with an almost infinite number of answers...
This is a trailer for a feature length documentary film I've been working on in my free time with virtually no funding. I'm hoping to garner interest in the project with this trailer and use it to raise funding to complete the feature length film. Definition: Snowboarding will be an in-depth look at all of the genres of Snowboarding through the eyes of Pro Riders and non-pros alike. I aim to create a film that both the general public and the hardcore snowboarder will enjoy, and to share all of the amazing aspects of riding instead of the homogenized X Games/halfpipe riding most people are familiar with. Ultimately I want to inspire new people to go snowboarding for the first time, and reinvigorate current riders to get out there and enjoy their boards more often.
