The Future of Snowboard Graphics

Here’s our pick of next season’s topsheet teasers from ISPO 2014.

Sex sells, it's a known fact. It's also very useful when young men are the target demographic. This year we saw more edgy graphics gracing the topsheets of the leading brands than ever.

Of course, men have been painting pictures of sexy ladies for about as long as they've had paintbrushes, and all the artists featured here clearly know how to draw the line (excuse the pun) between sexy and sexist.

What do you think, are snowboard graphics headed in the right direction?

Salomon Man’s Board

Bode Merril’s choice of steed, the Man’s Board takes inspiration from the golden age of ’70s fantasy art, with a heroine who looks ready to take out anyone who manages to get past her pet tiger.

Nitro Cinema

This is Nitro’s twin tip, entry-to-mid pricepoint all-round freestyle board. With a hybrid camber and soft flex profile, the Cinema looks very receptive to twisting and bending… as do the hooded and tatt’ed ladies adorning the topsheet.

The collaboration between Lib Tech and Jamie Lynn is in its 20th year, with most years featuring Jamie’s unique renderings of the female form. To celebrate, Jamie has created the Deflower: boobs, blue skin, and curves that define one of the most distinctive nose shapes we’ve seen in a while.

Capita The Outsiders

With its bright neon colours, chromatic aberration and Japanese space bad-guys artwork set on a black background, we suspect that riding this board at night under black light, while wearing 3-D glasses would be the kind of trip you’d never come back from.

Bataleon Airobic

Bataleon boards have triple-base technology, which is one good reason to buy them. Another good reason is this badass graphic, which features, among other things, a raccoon, a beehive haircut that’s also a Wookie, and, best of all, a triceratops with its own dinosaur triple-horn technology.
