The world’s best wakeboarders descended upon Linz in Austria at the weekend for Red Bull Wake of Steel.
In front of the watchful gaze of guest judge Parks Bonifay 16 top class international competitors thrilled the 12,000-strong crowd and it was Austrian Dominik Hernler who came away with top honours after a super clean run.
The riders had to negotiate a steel containership – hence the name of the competition – and were pushed to their limits in seasonably warm summer temperatures in Linz.
Bonifay was clearly impressed by the extraordinary obstacle. “We never have such massive obstacles and especially not made of mostly steel,” he said. “This ship is gigantic, a bit scary but super exciting to ride at the same time.”
