They came, they saw, they took pictures... photographers from all over the world travelled to Hong Kong's 'Avenue of Stars' last week for the announcement of the winners of the 2013 edition of Red Bull Illume.
A team of international judges and photo editors from renowned publications sifted through the many-thousands of entries in the adventure and action-sports photography contest before announcing the top 50 finalists and then awarding prizes in 10 different images categories.
The overall winner was Lorenz Holder, from Germany, whose image of snowboarder Xaver Hoffmann performing a jump at a satellite dish in a snowy Raisting won universal praise from the judges.
“The quality of the images in the Top 50 was amazing," he said, "so for me it is a great honour to be voted number one. It’s so unreal. It will take a while for the news to sink in."
