On May 4, 2014, thousands of runners will set off simultaneously around the globe as part of the Wings for Life World Run to raise funds for research into spinal cord injury, with the hope that one day a cure will be found.

With less than two months to go till the ground-breaking event, Daniel, who's currently in Melbourne, Australia, preparing for the first F1 race of 2014 – and his debut as a full-time driver for Infiniti Red Bull Racing – said he's fully behind the initiative and is hoping that it's a fellow Aussie that leads the way.

“Every single dollar raised from the World Run will be donated to the Wings for Life foundation,” said Ricciardo. “It’s going to research that will hopefully find a cure for spinal cord injury worldwide.

“I’ll be cheering you all on and fingers crossed the victor is from Australia!”
