Born into a family of kitesurfers, there was never a question of whether or not Tom Bridge was going to follow suit. The Bridge family has a long and successful history in the sport. His mum, Steph, is a five-time kite race World Champion and ranked as the number one woman in the world. His dad, Eric, has worked in the water sports industry for most of his life and is one of the founders of the BKSA Instructor Training Scheme.
Tom may be the youngest member of the Bridge family, however, his skill on a board is seldom matched by anyone else his age and he has become a role model for many young kiters. He has been European freestyle Youth Champion on multiple occasions and won the 2013 and 2014 PKRA Youth World Championships.
Ahead of his first-ever Senior PKRA event in 2014, Tom spent some time training with five-time World Champion Aaron Hadlow in Tarifa, Spain. Aaron provided advice and guidance in between some epic kite surfing action to better prepare the young pro for the upcoming season. In addition to taking what he learnt into his inaugural Senior PKRA event, Tom applied it when defending his World Juniors title, which he did with complete success.
Now competing in the senior ranks, Tom is constantly working on his tricks and hopes to soon be competing for major titles very soon. Watch this space.
