Ten invited spinners go head-to-head in an innovative competition at a top-secret venue to be crowned the second Red Bull Shay’ iMoto champion.
There’s a motorsport that is unique to the streets of South African townships, locally referred to as Spinning. During the early 1990s, some pioneers of the sport got togetherin Soweto and practiced the antics outside the criminal world.
They didn't know what they were doing exactly (stunts, drag racing, drifting), but it all centered on the BMW 325i -the so-called Gusheshe-and being the best. From there, the movement grew, capturing the hearts and minds of the youth.
In 1976 they burned tyres in protest of oppression… in 2016 they are still burning tyres… but just in a different way. Car spinning is now known as the fastest growing Motorsport in South Africa.

Round 1:
You be the judge and decide who has the most skills on track. Vote for the best run and have your say in who will battle who in the live show. Voting will open on Friday 18 September and close before the live show on Saturday 19 September at 13h00.
Round 2:
Will be coming to you live, watch as the top 8 spinners battle it out to be crowned the Red Bull Shay’I Moto champion. Spinners will be judged by a panel of legendary local spinners that include, Jeff James, Magesh Ndaba and Shaheim Bell.
