Three minutes of the three-time world champion sizzling across the length of the Superbank will have you psyched for the return of White Lightning.

"I've been surfing a little bit again lately," says three-time world champion Mick Fanning, "and my knee has been feeling pretty good!"
Fanning, who retired from competition in 2018, was starting to find his groove in the free surfing photo and video realm last year when sadly he ruptured his ACL while filming for Stab In The Dark in September.
The aim over the next month is to get back to a level of surfing where I can do most of the stuff I want, whenever I want.
"I've been riding a MF softboard lately and am now graduating to a fun little normal PU board," continues Fanning.
In honour of Fanning's return to the brine, we commissioned one of our favourite cinematographers, Lachlan McKinnon, to pull together a highlight reel from this time last year, when the Gold Coast was lighting up with endless summer swells, and the man they call White Lightning was in career best form.
Headlined by the incredible waves delivered by Tropical Cyclone Oma, we hope the three-minute clip in the player up top serves as a friendly reminder of the surfing we have to look forward to when Fanning is back at full fitness. Any last words?
"I'm still working hard on land to build up muscle in the leg and lose some of the weight I gained from being lazy! Every surf I’m testing it out a little more and seeing what range of motion I can get, and I'm feeling very confident I’ll be back stronger than ever in the near future. Can't wait!"
