Get a close look at the MotoGP riders’ new logos
Who calls himself The Maniac? Whose nickname is The Beast? See some of the best MotoGP logos here!
Four months of off-season for the MotoGP riders gave them plenty of time to put some thought into how they wanted to look for the first race of the 2016 season in Qatar.
From the cartoon slogans they carry on their windshields to full-on helmet layouts, the stars of MotoGP got creative over the winter period.
Here are some of the best we spotted during Round 1 over the weekend.
Enea Bastianini: The Beast
Moto3 rider Enea Bastianini is a hot tip for the title in 2016, and his nickname 'Bestia' – Beast in Italian – refers to his ability to cut through the field when hunting down top spot. In Qatar he fought back from eighth with two laps to go to finish fifth, and we can certainly expect more as the season progresses.
Watch out for The Maniac: It’s Andrea Iannone!
One of the best monikers ever? Iannone used to carry the nickname 'Crazy Joe' on his leathers in Moto2, but he's favoured 'The Maniac' in recent seasons. Perhaps a reminder of this overtake at the Australian GP will give some indication of why he's fond of his alter ego.
The Ducati MotoGP rider isn't shy of showing off his Maniac logo either, plastering it over his bike and garage backdrop to make sure his opponents know who they're dealing with!
The Doctor and his pets: Valentino Rossi
His nickname is well known, and Rossi's colourful caption on both his windshield and leathers is a permanent fixture.
There was a new addition for the 2016 season to his seat though! Rossi's love for his bulldogs are a famous part of his persona, and they've always featured as mascots on his bike. Well, this year, one of his cats has made the cut too…
Some super helmet designs: Maverick Viñales and Marc Márquez
Maverick Viñales gave a nod to being named after Tom Cruise's character in the film Top Gun with this special lid for 2016.
