Rising above an array of more experienced and younger rivals at her first-ever stop in Polignano a Mare, 37-year-old Faulkner landed in third place as she announced herself in spectacular style. Then, proving it was no stroke of luck, she followed it up with a fourth and fifth place finish to end the season in fifth overall and secure automatic qualification to every stop in 2026.
Transition from gymnastics to diving
A strong, powerful diver, the Delray Beach resident originally came from a gymnastic background – like many cliff divers have done – before making the switch of disciplines at the age of 17.
“My first memory of diving was trying to learn 105B on the 3 m springboard. I had just transitioned from gymnastics and the idea of landing on my head was so foreign. I think I took three good back smacks before moving onto something else,” admits Faulkner.
Inspiration and motivation
Naming Ginger Huber as her cliff diving hero, she confesses to being in awe of the former World Series diver and now judge, having worked with her during a show in Orlando. As for role models, she credits her sports-loving parents for inspiring her endeavours and supporting her all the way.
Describing herself as independent, motivated and impatient, Faulkner will now get to flex her skills at each and every stop in 2026, including what will be a highly anticipated home state stop in the ‘Sunshine City’, St. Petersburg.
