Cliff Diving

Following a promising debut season in 2023, the 22-year-old Canadian backed it up by landing on the podium three times in 2024, including remarkable runner-up spots at the World Series finale in Sydney and the World Cup in Bahrain.
Two more podiums followed in Polignano a Mare and Boston last year, elevating Leathead to her highest overall finish yet – runner-up behind nine-time champion Rhiannan Iffland

Going next level this season

As part of a growing pool of cliff diving talent in Canada, the youngster is well positioned to quickly take things to the next level in this sport. Not only is she part of probably the strongest high diving nation, with a close-knit training environment led by dedicated coach Stephane Lapointe, her rapid progression over the past two seasons suggests she doesn’t have too much more to find in order to challenge the dominant Iffland.
Perhaps her greatest obstacle to glory currently comes in the form of off the cliff competitions, having previously struggled to get to grips with locations like the Philippines, Northern Ireland and Takachiho in Japan.

Small but mighty

Having been inspired to become an athlete by her two older brothers, Leathead first came to prominence at the 2022 Junior World Championships in Montreal, where she secured gold from the 15 m platform.
After participating in Red Bull Under My Wiiings with Orlando Duque, the youngster became the first talent from the next generation camp to earn a spot on the tour, and her selection was vindicated when she posted a sixth-place finish on her debut in Paris.
The 1.57 m athlete, who describes herself as ‘small but mighty’, will need to grow her confidence and technique from the more natural take-off spots, especially with the 2026 calendar being bookended by two off-the-cliff competitions. If she can conquer these, she could just conquer the cliff diving world.
