The Junction episode 5: Jessy Lanza x Junior Boys
Jessy Lanza and Junior Boys team up in the fifth episode of Red Bull Music Academy's The Junction.
It's time for the latest instalment of Red Bull Music Academy's latest online series The Junction, which celebrate both Canada's thriving animation scene and the art of collaboration – the cornerstone of almost everything Red Bull Music Academy does. Across six episodes, different Canuck illustrators are bringing to life tales of musical co-operation.
In episode one, we witnessed the first meeting between Chilly Gonzales and Peaches; episode two paired up Kaytranada and River Tiber; A-Trak and Nick Catchdub got it together in episode three; and Malcolm Sutherland animated the three-way partnership between Lunice, Ango and 247esp in episode four.
This week it's the turn of Hamilton, Ontario's Hyperdub signing Jessy Lanza. The electronic producer and singer returned earlier this year with one of the albums of 2016, the ecstatic, refried electro-disco of Oh No. It was co-produced by Lanza's long-time friend and collaborative partner, Junior Boys' Jeremy Greenspan, another Hamilton native. Illustrator Dylan Glynn tells their story with an exclusive animation.
