The Swiss pair conquered first the timed qualifying element and then the head-to-head battles at a rain-soaked Jones Centre.
Von Niederhausern had the likes of Saya Sakakibara, Mathilde Bernard and the Smulders sisters to go bar-to-bar with in a field stacked with UCI BMX World Cup talent.
The Smulders sisters would square off against each other in the semi-finals. The younger of the pair, Merel, was victorious and progressed through to the finals to take on Von Niederhausern in the final.

Claudio Caluori's course preview of the Red Bull Pump Track Worlds track
Pump track guru Claudio Caluori takes us for a lap of America's biggest pump track.
In the men’s race, Barry Nobles was on a roll after winning the LCQ the previous day. Despite being a clear crowd favourite and still buzzing from the day before, a mistake in the semis meant that he had to settle for third.
The first ever world title fight came down to Swiss National BMX ChampionGraf heading off against the young French racer Eddy Clerte. Graf was ultra-aggressive from the start and soon capitalised on an early mistake from Clerte. He would fight until the bitter end, but it would be Graf who stole the win and took the title of Red Bull Pump Track World Champion 2018.
Despite the rain there was no dampening the spirits of the thousands of spectators who turned up to the newly-opened Jones Centre track, which is now the biggest in the USA.
