**Spoiler alert**
This event not only pits world champs against QS grinders, but also draws perhaps the most heavy-hitting local contingent there is in our fine sport of surfing. No surprise there – Pipeline is arguably the most intense line-up in the world with talent to match.
With the 144 competitors whittled down to four finalists after five days of epic conditions, the final round featured North Shore locals Jamie O'Brien and Josh Moniz, along with Brazil's Weslley Dantas and Cam Richards from South Carolina. That local knowledge paid off in the end, with Moniz edging O'Brien into the runner-up spot, despite JOB's perfect 10-point ride.
