For Gustavo Ribeiro, everything began on his fifth birthday, with a Christmas gift from his uncle. The gift was a skateboard, something that Gustavo would rarely be without from that point on. Three years later, Gustavo was certain what he wanted out of life – to skate professionally. These days, alongside his twin brother Gabriel, he's one of the leading lights of the Portuguese skating scene. In 2017 Gustavo became the first Portuguese skater to win the Tampa AM – the oldest amateur skateboarding championship around.
The victory at the Skatepark of Tampa earned Gustavo a ticket to the SLS Pro Open 2018 in London. In the English capital he reached the finals after surprising all in qualifying. He eventually finished seventh overall in London. This was followed up by a third place at the AM Street Dew Tour in Long Beach, California. A successful season was wrapped up with a win at O Marisquiño – one of the most important skateboarding championships in Europe.
Gustavo is working towards his dream of becoming a professional skater and joining the SLS World Tour full-time. When he’s off the board, he likes going out with friends to the bowling alley or the movies.
