Liam Brearley is carving his name into the history books of snowboarding. Born on February 27, 2003, in Orillia, Ontario, and raised in Gravenhurst, Brearley has been evolving into one of Canada’s most exciting young talents in snowboard slopestyle and big air. But before mastering the mountains, he honed his balance and agility through competitive wakeboarding, skills that now give him a unique edge on the snow.
Brearley first made waves in 2020 at the Winter Youth Olympics in Lausanne. Competing against the best young snowboarders on the planet, he walked away with three medals—silver in slopestyle and bronze in both halfpipe and big air. This remarkable feat signaled to the world that a new Canadian powerhouse was on the rise.
Fast forward to the 2023–2024 season, and Brearley took things to the next level. In January 2024, he captured his first-ever World Cup victory in Laax, Switzerland, and followed it up with another win in Silvaplana in March. These performances helped solidify his name on the global stage as he claimed the FIS Crystal Globe in slopestyle, awarded to the overall season points leader.
Not stopping there, Brearley also showcased his creativity at the 2024 Winter X Games in Aspen, where he took home a gold medal in the Knuckle Huck event—a competition that rewards innovation and style over technical perfection.
Just when it seemed like Brearley had reached new heights, he went even bigger. On March 21, 2025, he made history by becoming Canada’s first-ever men’s snowboard slopestyle world champion. Competing at the FIS Snowboard World Championships in Silvaplana, Switzerland, Brearley laid down a nearly flawless 90.15-point second run to take home the gold and solidify his place among the sport’s elite.
With his momentum at an all-time high, Brearley is setting himself up as a serious medal contender for the 2026 Winter Olympics. His mix of technical precision, creativity, and fearlessness makes him one of the most electrifying snowboarders to watch.
Whether it’s at the X Games, World Cups, or the biggest stage of them all, expect Liam Brearley to keep pushing boundaries and representing Canada at the top of the podium.
