Born in the Jizera Mountains in the Czech Republic, Markéta Davidová grew up in a winter sports environment. From a young age she enjoyed cross-country skiing around Janov-Bedřichov, while simultaneously looking after and riding horses.
In 2010 Markéta decided to pursue a career as a biathlete, a sport that combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting. She went on to win several medals in the IBU World Championships at junior and elite level.
Known for the unique decorations on her rifle, which include unicorn motifs, Markéta competed at the 2018 Winter Games in PyeongChang and finished 57th overall. The following year she completed a bachelor's degree in animal sciences, which she studied for at the Czech University of Life Sciences.
Continuing to excel on the world stage, Markéta secured bronze at the 2020 World Championships in the mixed relay and then in 2021 she claimed individual gold at the World Championships thanks to a masterful display on the range. She was the only athlete to shoot a perfect 20 for 20 in her two prone and two standing shoots.
In 2022, Markéta was able to once again represent her country on the world stage, as she competed at the Winter Games in Beijing – delivering a much-improved performance and finishing in sixth place overall.
