The latest Call of Duty is a throwback to the game that launched the entire phenomenon -- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. And while it channels the core of the original [Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare], it also does a lot different. From a grittier, more open campaign to a stripped back and focused multiplayer experience lead by the brilliant Gunfight mode, Modern Warfare 2019 will test your CoDs, if you catch our drift. Below you'll find five helpful tips for both the campaign and multiplayer after our extended time with the game at a recent review event. So lace up, soldier, and let's get to work.

CAMPAIGN

1. Take Your Time
Don’t rush into combat situations thinking you can be a super solider, the pace in Modern Warfare is much slower. You’ll receive damage quickly and suffer the consequences. Take it slow and use cover as an advantage by mounting your weapon to hard surfaces to steady your recoil.

2. Listen to Other Characters Closely
Characters in your team like Captain Price you will give you audio clues as part of your objectives. For example, if you’re told to hold your fire, then don’t shoot anyone! Listen to what they are saying as you’ll be rewarded during those big set piece moments.
3. Go Back and Replay Missions
Some of the missions have various ways that you can approach them, like the attack in Piccadilly for instance. Replay those missions and you’ll see things you didn’t the first, second and third time around.
Also with each mission you’re given a ranking of how well you performed. This takes into account things like making sure you don’t harm civilians. Try and get through them without any mistakes.
4. Change it Up
Usually at the beginning of each mission you’ll be given a default weapon to start with. Sometimes along the way you’ll come across a variety of other weapons that the game will offer you to use. Try out some of these, because at times you might just find something that is just better overall. You could start off with a gun that doesn’t have any sights, but later on come across one with a red dot that will help you aim easier. Keep your eyes peeled!
5. The Utility Belt
Batman loves gadgets, and you should too. Don’t forget that you’ll sometimes be given utility items like flashbangs and grenades. If you find yourself in a hairy situation, throw one of these out to see if you can take off some of the pressure coming your way.

MULTIPLAYER

1. Don’t Sprint all the Time
Sprinting in Call of Duty makes a lot of noise. It can give away your position and let an enemy know where you are. Try taking things a bit slower if you know someone is nearby, especially if you think they’ve heard you. Grabbing the Dead Silence perk can reduce your noise, so get this and sprint to surprise your enemies.
2. Positional Gameplay

3. Reload While in ADS
In Modern Warfare you can now reload weapons while aiming down your sights. This means you can keep track of your target with a lot of accuracy, and start firing again as soon as the clip has loaded back into the weapon.
4. Use Verticality to your Advantage
With the maps in Modern Warfare having a bit more emphasis on verticality, you can use this to get a 'jump' (sorry) on enemy players at a lower elevation than you are. Look for areas where you can mantle, as sometimes they may not seem like an obvious location to get to, that is until you try and grab a hold of a ledge.
5. Experiment with Different Weapons and Perks
As you level up in Modern Warfare you’ll unlock extra weapons to use in your loadout. Each weapon also has a leveling system so this will allow you to obtain better attachments and perks for these weapons. Are you planning on taking firefights at range? Or would you like to get up close and personal? Use these attachments to customise your playstyle and hopefully this will be give you an advantage over the player you’re trying to take down.
