Red Bull Symphonic landed in Canada for the first time ever with Grammy-nominated, Canadian R&B artist Charlotte Day Wilson on February 28 in front of a sold out show at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto.
In an incredible performance of her own hits and collaborations, Charlotte Day Wilson also used this show as opportunity to pay homage to some of the artists who have inspired her throughout career. Honouring icons like Joni Mitchell and Carole King she performed renditions of “A Case of You” and “So Far Away” and shone a spotlight on fellow Canadian Saya Gray for a duet of Gray’s “Lie Down.”
Charlotte was also joined on stage by Sampha to perform one of his most notable tracks, “(No One Knows Me) Like the Piano”, a song she noted is one of her favourite ever tracks.
Looking back on the evening’s performance, Charlotte Day Wilson said “Tonight I wanted to enjoy the show as much as I wanted to perform it. I just wanted to enjoy the amazing music, the musicians on stage with me, and I wanted to celebrate the music that defined my life and enjoy the evening. Ultimately, I did that.”
