10 Icons you’ll want in your FIFA 20 Ultimate Team
New legends and returning favourites that you’ll definitely want to acquire in FIFA 20.
Icons are some of the most sought-after items in FIFA Ultimate Team, offering up highly-rated versions of legendary players from the past. And as always, the upcoming release of FIFA 20 on September 27th will see a range of new Icons added into the mix.
We’ve already been treated to a selection of the new Icons heading to FIFA 20, and there are some colossal names amongst them. You'll find some key details about them below, as well as the most notable returning legends to look out for.
Early Reveal of the FIFA 20 Icons

1. Andrea Pirlo (NEW)
The last time Italian legend Pirlo featured in Ultimate Team was in FUT 18, back when he was a member of New York City FC. He's more famously remembered for his spells with A.C. Milan and Juventus, of course, as well as his 116 caps with the Italian national side. Expect Pirlo to receive a significantly high rating in FIFA 20 Ultimate Team as a result, and prove one of the most creative midfield Icons you can get your hands on.
2. Lev Yashin
It’s unlikely that any goalkeeper will surpass the rating of Lev Yashin in FUT 20. The Russian star, who made over 300 appearances for Dynamo Moscow over a twenty-year period, boasts the very best GK Icon in FIFA 19 with a peak overall of 95. No word yet on whether the “Black Spider” will retain his ratings from last year’s game, but regardless, you’ll definitely want him in your team as soon as possible to boost your defence in FIFA 20.
3. Carlos Alberto (NEW)
Brazilian Carlos Alberto is set to prove a defensive standout later this year, joining FIFA 20 Ultimate Team’s list of Icons for the first time in the series’ history. The historic full-back, who made well over 400 appearances for Santos FC in the 60s and 70s, is perhaps best remembered for his incredible goal in the 1970 World Cup Final, captaining the Brazilians to a 4-1 victory. His outstanding career should see him benefit from a significantly high rating.
4. Ronald Koeman (NEW)

Ronald Koeman has featured in Ultimate Team as a manager on various occasions. But this time, the current Holland boss is coming back as a player, celebrating his legendary career with the likes of Barcelona, PSV and Ajax. Koeman, who lifted the 1988 European Championship with his home country, is known for the being the top-scoring defender in world football, so prepare for some serious finishing stats for the Netherlands superstar.
5. Pelé
Is it any surprise that Pelé makes the list? Widely known as one of the greatest players in the history of the sport, Pelé won a total of three World Cups with Brazil and scored well over 1000 goals throughout the course of his career. Pelé’s Prime ICON Moments item in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team boasts a maxed-out rating of 99, but even the weakest clocks in at 91. Whichever version you go for, think yourself lucky if you manage to pack him.
6. Zinedine Zidane (NEW)

The Ultimate Edition of FIFA 20 is packed with loads of additional FUT 20 benefits, and it also exhibits a special cover star in the form of French legend Zinedine Zidane. The current Real Madrid manager is confirmed to be appearing in FUT 20, and should prove one of the top-rated Icons in the game if his illustrious career is anything to go by. Just expect to fork out a few million coins for the Real Madrid, Juventus and Bordeaux star on the transfer market.
7. Diego Maradona
Like Pelé, Diego Maradona is another who sports a range of high-rated Icon items in FUT 19. And the Argentinian, who captained his national side to victory in the 1986 World Cup, is sure to prove one of the highest-rated players in Ultimate Team once again this year. It remains to be seen whether his Prime ICON Moments variant will get a +1 boost to a 99 overall rating, but regardless, you’ll definitely want to acquire this outstanding CAM for your club.
8. Ian Wright (NEW)
Wright featured for England on 33 occasions, scoring 9 goals in all

Arsenal striker Ian Wright is another who debuts as an Icon this year, making his first series appearance in almost two decades. Expect his shooting stats to prove particularly menacing due to his prolific goalscoring record with Arsenal, scoring 185 goals in 288 appearances during his time with the Gunners. The former England striker probably won’t be one of the highest-rated Icons in FUT 20, but his lethal finishing should make him a crucial pickup.
9. Ronaldo
The highest-rated striker in all of FUT 19’s Icons is the Brazilian Ronaldo, peaking with an overall rating of 97. The Real Madrid and Inter legend makes for a devastating attacking threat, with his Prime ICON Moments item boasting 98 pace, 99 dribbling and 96 shooting stats. We’re already expecting him to adopt one of the best Icon items in FUT 20, so you’ll definitely want to keep the two-time World Cup winner on your radar.
10. Didier Drogba (NEW)

Didier Drogba is no stranger to Ultimate Team, having appeared in nine consecutive versions of the mode from FUT 09 to FUT 17. The Ivorian has since retired, of course, and is now set to return as a debuting Icon in FUT 20. We’re expecting some hefty stats for the striker, best known for his trophy-laden spell with Chelsea from 2004-2012. Drogba’s highest overall rating to date is a 91 (in FIFA 10), but his Icon could easily break that record in FUT 20.
