The call of the mountains these days is often muffled by the yawn of social media. But as with anything, your Instagram feed should be all about quality, not quantity.
With that in mind then, we decided to make things easier for you and put together a list of those mountain bike stars whom we believe represent the best on the 'gram.

Red Bull Energy Drink is appreciated worldwide by top athletes, busy professionals, university students and travellers on long journeys.

1. Finn Iles (@finniles) 146k followers
The Canadian phenom Finn Iles is one of the youngest and boldest talents currently tearing up the pro ranks of the Mercedes-Benz UCI World Cup. Finn has a series of podiums to his name but is still very much on the up as far as his career is concerned.
He's team-mates with the irrepressible Loïc Bruni and is a part-time student and vlogger. Finn's raw talent on a bike is enough to make him worth a follow alone but the fact that he's a natural at the new form of digital communication/entertainment seals the deal.
2. Jolanda Neff (@jolandaneff) 266k followers
Although still awaiting a big XCO win this season, Jolanda Neff remains without doubt the belle of cross-country racing. The Swiss star exudes the kind of lighthearted cool that so many aspire to possess yet hers is entirely natural.
She seems to have found a home in the Trek Factory Racing pit and we've no doubt that those big results will follow. Maybe (whisper it) come Worlds... worth a follow.
3. Brandon Semenuk (@brandonsemenuk) 449k followers
Brandon Semenuk is somewhat of a dark prince as far as mountain biking social media is concerned. The Canadian freeride and slopestyle pioneer has moved away from competitive riding over the last few years and now instead focuses his creative efforts on beautifully constructed video work.
With Semenuk, you don't get the unfiltered access-all-areas look into his daily routine but what you do get is shot after shot of perfectly clicked style.
4. Danny Macaskill (@danny_macaskill) 1.1m followers
Danny Macaskill is one of those mountain bikers capable of transcending the sport itself in terms of fame and notoriety. Proof, if it were needed, can be found courtesy of his 1.1 million strong legion of followers.
Far from keeping his riding under wraps for future projects, Danny is all about putting out clips and frequently posts jaw-dropping trials riding from all around the world.

5. Eddie Masters (@edmasters) 68.4k followers
And now for something completely different... Kiwi Eddie Masters, whether he wants to admit it, is perhaps the fastest all-round mountain biker currently stalking the earth.
Need proof? He won the last Enduro World Series in Les Orres, France and still sits 13th in the UCI World Cup overall standings despite having missed a round. Eddie's account is an extremely polished example of something utterly chaotic. Enjoy!
6. Tahnée Seagrave (@tahneeseagrave) 246k followers
Tahnée Seagrave is one of the world's fastest DH riders and is right on the cusp of DH greatness. She's won more races than anyone else over the previous two seasons but still the wait continues for that big title. Rest assured, it won't be long in arriving.
Her account is a really interesting look at the day-to-day life of a pro MTB athlete and, as she's currently recovering from a shoulder injury, a fascinating insight into the work required off of the bike.
7. Josh Lewis (@loosedoglewis) 120k followers
Do you jib? The man almost completely responsible for bringing the verb 'to jib' into the popular MTB lexicon is non-other than Josh 'Loose Dog' Lewis.
The adoption and adaptation of BMX tricks onto MTB's can be traced as far back as the very first Whistler Bike Park comps but Loose has truly (or should that read 'continually'?) attempting to refine it. He's a creative landmine with many plates spinning, in various directions, at any one time.
8. Toolbox Wars (@toolboxwars) 5k followers
Right, OK, so this account isn't technically an athlete BUT if you are someone who enjoys working on their bike and is even fractionally nerdish towards tools and workshops then following Toolbox Wars is an absolute must.
There are plenty of follower submissions, clever tool hacks and maintenance tips as well as a glimpse inside the toolboxes of elite spanner wielders.
9. Greg Callaghan (@greg_callaghan) 41k followers
Greg Callaghan is a star of the Enduro World Series and rides for the Cube Action Team. He's perhaps Ireland's biggest MTB star and is very much on the comeback hunt after a disappointing, injury-hampered start to 2019.
Callaghan's Instagram account is extremely natural. Whereas a lot of riders over-think their social media output, Greg's is a genuine window into his life spent riding, racing and training as well as having a laugh along the way.
10. Veronique Sandler (@veroniquesandler) 84k followers
Veronique Sandler is a UK-based Kiwi who left the world of top-flight racing behind to re-focus on having fun on her bike. And it's proving worthwhile.
She's just had her first feature-length film, Vision, released and alongside riders like Casey Brown seems to be pushing women's freeride (for want of a better blanket term) forward with big jumps and style for miles.
