Winning run – Red Bull Joyride

Check out the incredible winning run from Red Bull Joyride at the Crankworx World Tour 2019.

The event takes stage in the heart of Whistler village and hosts the most challenging course of the series. Invited riders will each get two runs at the final event and will be scored on a mix of tricks, technicality, and style with the overall title of the series on the line.
As all roads lead to Red Bull Joyride, there's definitely some must hit pitstops along the way because Whistler is basically Disneyland for adults–everywhere you turn there is another activity to enjoy.

What to do outside of biking

Ziptrek’s Sasquatch zipline, at 2km in length, is the longest in North America. While some take the opportunity to flip upside down, it’s impressive if you can make it across simply without screaming.
Interested in sightseeing? Check out the Peak 2 Peak gondola. Offering 360-degree views this is an excellent way to take in the mountains, lakes, glaciers, and forests of Whistler.
Lost Lake is a short walk or even shorter bike ride along the Valley Trail from Whistler Village and offers a popular swimming beach. If you’re looking for a little more of a private swim, continue around the lake to find plenty of off roughed-in trails to take you to the water’s edge – and even a clothing optional dock. If Lost Lake is a little too busy for your liking, then Nita Lake, Green Lake, and Alta Lake might have something more for your pace.
Plus, since Whistler is a town for multi-sport days, don't forget about the rebuilt skatepark filled with endless line options.

Where to fuel up

Any patio in Whistler during the summer is going to be a great place to grab a drink, have some food, and enjoy the people watching. However, few key places are worth making the effort to check out while you’re in town.
If you're hunting for a patio, it's hard to beat Longhorn Saloon & Grill. After a long day of cruising the bike park, the Longhorn is steps away from the gondolas to welcome you with open arms.
For those looking to put back some of the area's finest craft beer, check out the The Brewhouse in Olympic Plaza.
The Lift Coffee Company has a great friendly vibe and is an industry favourite hangout during Crankworx. Their patio is full of comfy couches and they offer a range of healthy food options.
A rather new restaurant Hunter Gather serves locally made food, craft beer, and wine. Their bench-style tables easily accommodate groups of friends.
The HandleBar serves craft beer and eats inspired by Germanic street food. What they don’t offer is ‘mass produced soul-less beer.’ There’s a reason why the locals love this place.
And lastly, we'd be no friend of yours if we didn't mention El Furniture Warehouse. Their cheap but quality eats won't be beat.

What to check out during Crankworx

Crankworx offers a solidly packed schedule of mountain bike action for ten days straight. In addition to Red Bull Joyride, there are a ton of other events worth checking out.
At the top of your list for other events should be the Official Whip-Off World Championships taking place on August 12th. This event takes a little more effort to get to, but they provide some incredible feats to feast your eyes on.
The Ultimate Pumptrack Challenge is a great way to spend the evening of August 10th – watching riders take each other on in head-to-head challenges on an expertly built track.
You can view the full schedule of events here.

Where to escape the crowds

Sometimes it’s nice to get away from the masses for a moment, especially if you are putting in a full-pull of Crankworx. The Scandinave Spa is a great way to get some quiet time. After the noise of the village the spa’s silence rule will be welcomed.
Another get-away option is to explore Whistler’s Valley trails. Renowned world-wide for their hand built singletrack, they see far less traffic than the bike park, especially during Crankworx.

How to get the most out of watching Red Bull Joyride

1. Don't miss any of the livestream events. Not only can you stream all the Red Bull Joyride action, you can also tune in to watch the following LIVE on Red Bull TV, right here.
  • Specialized Dual Slalom Whistler: August 9th at 5:00 PM
  • RockShox Ultimate Pump Track Challenge: August 10th at 6:00 PM
  • Clif Speed & Style: August 11th at 5:00 PM
3. Be prepared to stay all day. Bring a backpack and fill it with – in addition to your choice of refreshments – water, sunscreen, and all the swag you are sure to get!
4. Move around. It’s challenging to find one place to watch the whole event so start at the top and work your way to the bottom as the event progresses. The bonus is that you’ll miss the mass exodus down the mountain of the dehydrated, inebriated, and sun-stroked masses when the event ends.
