The final day of the Burton U.S. Open saw the men's and women's superpipe finals go down on the fourth consecutive day of spring conditions in sunny Vail, Colorado.
Optimum conditions meant for a fast pipe and a packed house of amped fans cheering on their favourite riders from around the world.

After putting down the run of the semifinals, Scotty James appeared to be the favourite in the final. In his first of three runs, James led the pack, with only three riders able to complete their runs down the 600-foot [183m] long, 22-foot [6.7m] tall pipe. James, however, stomped a solid run snagging an 82.87 score, but it was one that he would fail to better in runs two and three.

Enter, Shaun White.
After going down on his first run, White went mad on his second run, kicking things off with a massive backside air (signature Shaun White height, of course), into a frontside double cork 1080 mute, into a cab double cork 1440 mute, into a frontside 540 stalefish, then a backside double McTwish finished off by a clean frontside 900 for a near perfect score of 92.7.
That was nearly 10 points higher than second place finisher, James, while In third place was Idaho's own Chase Josey, posting a 79.87 on his first run.

Kim proved that rapid progression is rampant in the women's event when she strung together a lofty backside air, into a solid frontside 1080 tail, into a cab 720 melon, a frontside 900 and finishing off wth a McTwist.
Completing the women's final, Elena Hight finished second with an 80.12 followed by Maddie Mastro with a 78.25.
