Jaan Roose's crossing of the Katara Towers

At an altitude of more than 185 metres and in the face of violent winds, Jaan Roose, an Estonian, achieved the longest crossing on a slackline. The slackline, which was only 2.5 cm wide, stretched for more than 150 metres between the two Katara towers in Qatar. It's an exceptional record that we invite you to watch on video.

Mont Saint-Michel from the air

He could have chosen to walk to Mont Saint-Michel like everyone else, but Nathan Paulin likes a challenge. So what could be better than going to this legendary site on a slackline? It was a crazy challenge that earned him the world record for the longest distance ever covered on a slackline. It has to be said that he felt the 2,200 m that separated the starting crane from the Mont was no mean feat, but the Frenchman was lucky in terms of the weather, the absence of wind facilitating his 2-hour advance.
  • Date and place: 24 May 2022 / Abbey of Mont Saint-Michel, France
  • Distance: 2,200 metres
  • Height: 115 metres above sea level

Project 2700

30 mountain enthusiasts have got together in Auvergne, at the Col de la Croix Saint-Robert in the Sancy massif, to try and reach the Puy de l'Angle at the Rox du Cuzeau by air. The aim is to surpass the world record for the distance covered by a highline, previously held by... Nathan Paulin, mentioned above. 8 slackline freaks managed to cross the 2,710 metre line without falling: Augustin Moinat, Tania Moniet, Arthur Lefebvre, Mia Noblet, Benoît Brume, Mattis Reisner, Nathan Philippot and Julien Roux, who was the last to complete the crossing on the night of 13 to 14 August, by the light of the full moon and his headlamp.
  • Date and venue: 30 July to 8 August 2022 / Puy-de-Dôme, France
  • Distance: 2,710 metres
  • Height: 250 metres above sea level

Underground slackline record

The experiment took place deep in a chasm in the Verna cave. It took the Slackline Pays Basque association three whole days to achieve this feat, in which the strap had to be stretched to a height of 90 metres above the void. Philippe Soubies and Alejandro Antolinez had already attempted this madness 7 years ago, and failed, but this time it was the real deal! In this damp, subterranean environment, landmarks are disrupted and the first attempt proved difficult. The strap, fastening and knot are all doubled to ensure safety. In the end, the two slackliners managed to cross the cave without falling. A new record for these tightrope walkers.
  • Date and place: 12 November 2023 / Pyrénées-Atlantique, France
  • Distance: 230 metres
  • Height: 100 metres above sea level

Spencer Seabrooke free solo over the void

If we asked you to walk more than 250 metres above an abyss without any protection, you'd instinctively say no. But there is one man: Spencer Seabrooke. But one man, Spencer Seabrooke, set himself the challenge of walking on a slackline 65 metres above a chasm in Squamish, without any safety. It was a totally mad challenge that he passed with flying colours, despite a few nasty falls that left us in a (very) cold sweat.
  • Date and place: 2 August 2015 / Squamish, Canada
  • Distance: 64 metres
  • Height: 290 metres

Jaan Roose over an ancient ocean

If Bozzhyra was once an ocean (now dried up), Jaan Roose has turned it into his playground for the duration of a high altitude crossing. The heat of this desert, sometimes reaching 50°C, and the hot winds were the greatest challenge of this 500-metre breakthrough between two cliff faces. It was a challenge that required patience and precision, as the teams had to wait 5 days because of the wind before being able to let Jaan Roose climb onto his line.

On a slackline in the middle of the Austrian mountains

Mick Kemeter on the Grossglockner

Mick Kemeter on the Grossglockner

Perched at an altitude of over 3,000 metres between 2 Austrian mountains, Mich Kemeter braved the cold and wind on his slackline. The crossing of the two peaks of one of Austria's greatest peaks, the Grossglockner, had never before been tackled by a tightrope walker, so Mich Kemeter and his team decided to change that. For 4 days, he attempted to cross a frozen line, barefoot, which he had to clear of snow every morning. Mick had to use extreme means to try and preserve his feet, warming them with a stove.
  • Date and place: 21 February 2017 / Grossglockner, Austria
  • Distance: 47 metres
  • Height: 3,770 metres
