1. Wengen, Switzerland The Lauberhorn Races will take place for the 86th time this ski season. Can you think of a more stunning setting than the faces of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau in the Bernese Oberland? Watch out for the next edition on January 15-17, 2016.

2. Kitzbühel, Austria The Streif is legendary for many reasons, such as the Mausefalle, and its final approach to the finish is without comparison. About 45,000 ski fans gather to watch the downhill every year. The 76th Hahnenkamm will take place on January 22-24, 2016.

3. Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy The start of the Olimpia delle Tofane piste, or Tofana, in Cortina, is spectacular beyond belief. The ladies’ World Cup tour visits the Dolomites for an annual speed show. In addition, Cortina will host the World Champs 2021. This season the world’s fastest women, including Lindsey Vonn, will be in town from January 23-24, 2016.

4. Schladming, Austria The Schladming night race is a brilliant celebration for more than 40,000 fans and the world’s best slalom racers. The hill glows red with flares and boasts an atmosphere second to none. The 2016 event will rock the town on January 26.

5. Gröden/Val Gardena, Italy The Saslong in Val Gardena, South Tyrol, is one of the classics on the men’s tour and boasts the Sella Group as its backdrop. It is also famous for its Camel Humps, a series of successive bumps, and massive air off the jumps. Mark your diary for December 18-19, 2015.

6) Beaver Creek, USA Colorado’s Beaver Creek is iconic. The courses, Birds of Prey for the men and Raptor for the ladies, require the utmost skill to master, not least because of the high altitude at above 3,400m above sea level. The next races in Colorado will roll on December 4-6, 2015.
