The 2025 Tour de France marked a defining moment in the history of Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. Florian Lipowitz, just 24 years old and riding his first Tour, delivered a historic performance by finishing third overall in the general classification and securing the white jersey for best young rider – both firsts for the team at cycling’s biggest race.
Lipowitz's Tour success stands proudly alongside the team’s past Grand Tour achievements, including Jai Hindley’s Giro d’Italia title, Primož Roglič’s Vuelta a España victory, and historic Tour moments such as Peter Sagan’s multiple green jerseys and Jordi Meeus’s stage win on the Champs-Élysées in 2023.
With three-time UCI world champion, Olympic champion, two-time European champion and reigning Tour de France champion Remco Evenepoel on board for 2026, the team's future looks bright as they attempt to repeat and eclipse their past glories. The Belgian, widely regarded as the best time triallist of his generation, has enjoyed a string of victories in his early races with the team as he looks to set the tone for a successful season ahead.
Years of focused development and belief in young talent
For Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe, sporting success is just one part of the bigger picture. As CEO Ralph Denk puts it: “We have a clear plan to become the most attractive brand in cycling. I want to find iconic riders, and the development of young talent is a huge focus for us.”
Beyond the Grand Tours, the team aims to leave its mark on other key events throughout the season. “There are many highlights on the calendar where we can make an impact with our style,” Denk explains. “These include the week-long stage races, where our GC talents can take on more responsibility and grow, as well as the one-day races, for which we’ve specifically strengthened our squad.”
The 2025 Giro d’Italia marked the rise of young Italian talent Giulio Pellizzari, who impressed with a sixth-place finish in the overall standings. German rider Nico Denz also enjoyed a standout moment, powering to victory on Stage 18 in a dramatic breakaway win. Just like at the Giro, Red Bull – BORA – hansgrohe's strategy for the Tour de France focused on captain Primož Roglič, who is one of the most successful general classification riders. In the end, the experienced Slovenian finished eighth and was the team's second rider to claim a spot in the top 10, after Lipowitz.
Beyond the elite team, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe is building one of cycling’s most complete development pipelines. The structure already includes grenke - Auto Eder, one of the world’s top junior teams, and is now also joined by a new U23 development squad called Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe Rookies, further underlining the team’s long-term vision of developing future stars from within.
