Finally! Is this the first real hoverboard? The brainchild of Marseille-based inventor Franky Zapata and hisZapata Racingteam,the Air Flyboard is purported to be able to reach a maximum speed of 90mph, and an altitude of 10,000ft.
That's 10,000ft. Up in the actual sky.

Zapata has previously gained notoriety for his Flyboard, also referred to as a "water jetpack", which the former jetski champion-turned-inventor debuted in 2011.

While Zapata's latest invention seems to be entirely jet-propelled and free-flying, Flyboards are propelled by jets of water and require the rider to be tethered to a watercraft (usually a jetski) by a 30-metre hose. Take a look at how they work in the video below.
