Before jumping into a game of Apex Legends, it’s important to understand how to use your chosen character wisely. And Wraith, the interdimensional skirmisher, is no exception to this rule. She can bolt out of danger with her ‘Into the Void’ ability or create portals with her ultimate, ‘Dimensional Rift’, to ferry squad mates to safety. This makes her an extremely useful character to have on the battlefield, if you know how to use her correctly.
So below, we’ve put together some tips on how to make better use of the character. It will teach you how to use her abilities and what weapons fit her particular playstyle nicely, alongside other useful information.

1. Keep an ear out for your passive

While it’s very easy to get carried away chatting with your teammates, it’s important to keep an ear out. This is because Wraith’s passive ability, ‘Voices from the Void’, will give you an early warning whenever an enemy is looking in your direction or aiming at you, which can make the difference between being hunched over in the dirt or hidden safely behind cover. Once you hear the ability activate, quickly run and slide to safety and warn your teammates with the prompt that flashes onscreen. You won’t have long to react, but you should have just enough time to get out of the firing line before being eliminated – if you’re paying attention, that is.

2. Don’t be afraid to run away

Wraith’s ‘Into the Void’ ability is especially helpful if you ever find yourself becoming overwhelmed in a shootout – you can simply enter the void and flee to safety. Sure, you’ll be abandoning your teammates for the time being. But that just means you’ll be able to survive a little bit longer and return to them once you’re fully healed.
It’s important to note that while ‘Into the Void’ is active, you’ll also avoid taking damage and gain a quick speed boost. This is at the cost of leaving a trail behind and being unable to see other players clearly. Also, once you exit the void, there will be a slight window in which you can’t fire your weapon. So, bear all this in mind when using this ability.

3. Go outside the circle

Another trick you can pull with your tactical ability is to momentarily leave the circle and surprise enemies from behind. As mentioned before, you won’t take damage while ‘Into the Void’ is active, which makes it incredibly useful for those late game moments when you are stuck between the edge of the circle and a wide-open plain with barely any cover in sight.

4. Use portals to get to cover

By far Wraith’s most impressive ability is her ultimate, ‘Dimensional Rift’, which lets her link two locations together with a portal. There are a few incredible things that you can do with this, such as quickly travelling between wide open spaces and more protected areas.

For this, you’ll want to place a portal in a secure location and then put another one close to where the enemy is situated. That way you can then switch between locations to fire at an enemy, and still have an exit strategy if need be.
Again, there is a slight cooldown that you have to account for before being able to use your weapons. But, if you execute it correctly, you should be able to rush in and out of danger to get the drop on other squads without this being too much of an issue.

5. Lure players into portals

With this in mind, another tactic you can employ is luring players into portals. Enter a portal and fire at an enemy, before quickly returning back through to the other side. Should the enemy fall for the bait, you will then be ready and waiting for them. This means pulling out a powerful close-range weapon and shooting at them when they emerge in front of you. A great time to do this is whenever you need help downing a tricky enemy. Just lure them into a portal and into the crosshairs of your fellow squad mates waiting elsewhere.

6. Mix your abilities

Placing portals can be a fairly slow process if you don’t know how to do it efficiently, but it doesn’t need to be. After placing the first portal, use your tactical ability to enter the void and quickly drop the second portal to link the two locations. Combining your abilities will make portal placement so much faster and leave you less vulnerable to getting ambushed while attempting to lead the push on enemy teams.

7. Choose the right loadout

As for the weapons you should use, it’s wise to opt for those that do more damage at closer range – like the Peacekeeper and EVA-8 Auto – given Wraith’s ability to sneak up on other squads. This will allow you to do as much damage in as short a time as possible when you exit the void and lead an offensive on an unsuspecting enemy team. Just make sure you have plenty of shotgun ammo, and try to pack at least one long range rifle for those distant encounters early on.
