Instagram isn't just a place for gawping at pets, food, or posting pictures of your legs on a sun lounger. It's also home to some of the UK's best comic talent. Fill your feed with funnies with these must-follow accounts.

1. Mo The Comedian

Instagram was pretty much the making of Mo Gilligan, whose hilarious character studies of Cockney geezers, roadmen and noisy tea drinkers have got the attention of Drake, Tinie Tempah and Stormzy. His viral ubiquity has converted into real life success – his Coupla Cans tour sold out venues across the UK last year, and he’s working on a new project for Channel 4.

2. Chabuddy G

Kurupt FM manager and the self-styled King Of Hounslow, Chabuddy G runs an Instagram account with proper girth, packed with backstage footage, People Just Do Nothing clips, and plenty of great poses. Kurupt FM also have a presence at @KuruptFM.

3. Michael Dapaah

South London comedian Michael Dapaah blew up last year as Big Shaq, the faintly ridiculous UK drill sensation who wouldn’t take off his roadman jacket, even though it was pretty warm out. But there’s more to Dapaah than Man’s Not Hot – see his #SWIL (Somewhere In London) web series, or his brilliant Insta feed, packed with musical sketches and send-ups of his Ghanian elders.

4. VeryVeeBrown

“WARNING!!! I WAS BORN WITH NO MANNERS OR FUCKS GIVEN…” So says Vee Brown, an Instagram entrepreneur with a skill for foul-mouthed comedy and a taste for filters and voice manipulation comedy. She counts Rihanna among her many fans, and she’s also started a clothing line on the side, Doin The Most.

5. Poundland Bandit

Poundland Bandit’s Instagram is ground zero for the ‘Starter Pack’, those four-panel images that viciously skewer a particular social group – like the ‘Yah talk too loudly on the night bus about how mental Pippa’s house party was yah’ Starter Pack or the ‘Go follow my photography account’ starter pack. Mean but hilarious.

6. Faceinthenews

Definitely a rising talent, Faceinthenews’ channels mix up reaction videos, album reviews, and brilliant conversations between her and her “mum” – who is invariably played by Faceinthenews herself, with the addition of some thick lipstick and a tin can strapped to her head.

7. Uncle Ed

Uncle Ed blew up last year with Wenger Out, a hilarious diss track directed at the manager of the football team he follows, Arsenal. The 21 year old’s Instagram is also stuffed with great videos, including send-ups of fitness videos and dating etiquette. (The iPhone cable draped over the head means he's playing a woman – which he is often).

8. MikesComedyy

Like Michael Dapaah, MikesComedyy sits somewhere between comedy and music. His finest creation is Uncle Felix and Kunle, which neatly captures the relationship between young black Brits and their African-born elders (check their UK drill-inspired single Wash Di Plates).
