Having last hosted a MotoGP World Championship round in 1997, Austria made a thrilling return to the racing calendar in 2016 at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg, Austria's new cathedral of motorsports. It was Italy, not Austria, who celebrated hardest that year, however, as Andrea Iannone and Andrea Dovizioso finished 1–2 to give Ducati their first MotoGP victory almost six years. Dovizioso then went one better to hand the Ducati an Austrian double in 2017. Can anyone break the Italian domination of the Austrian event this year?
