What is the Red Bull Soapbox Race?
Red Bull Soapbox Race is our wackily-wheeled world of crazy creativity, where teams of amateur drivers pool their creative talents to define the rules of street racing, and create their own homemade Soapbox car to race on a main stage. Hold on to your helmets!
The first Red Bull Soapbox Race was held in Belgium in 2000 and since then it’s spread around the world, with over 100 events being held globally.
When is the event and where is it held?
The UK race is going to be held at Alexandra Palace, London on Saturday 20th June 2026.
Venue Address: Alexandra Palace, Alexandra Palace Way, London N22 7AY
What time does the event start and finish?
Specific event times will be released in Spring 2026, however gates will open late morning/lunchtime with the event starting around 14:00.
How do I apply to take part?
All applications for Red Bull Soapbox Race are digital this year, so everything can be done at the click of a button! To apply, click the 'Apply Now' button at the top of the page, fill out the form and upload your sketch to submit your application to Race Control.
APPLICATIONS WILL OPEN ON 26th DECEMBER 2026
When does the application period close?
The deadline for applications is 11pm GMT on 1st March 2026 so if you want to be considered please make sure you’ve completed your form by then!
Can I update/change my application once submitted?
We’d prefer if you wait until you’ve got everything confirmed 100% before you submit your application, however we do appreciate that things can change from time to time. If this does happen, please email us at soapbox.uk@redbull.com as soon as possible.
Does the design we submit in our application have to match the Soapbox used in the event?
100% the design. All teams have to confirm that they understand this when they submit their application, and that if their design doesn’t match, then Red Bull has the right to prevent them from taking part in the event.
Can I send Red Bull a model of our design?
Whilst we love receiving Soapbox models, we ask that you join us in our commitment to sustainability by not sending us a physical model in the post. Don’t worry, you’ll still be able to send us your supporting material (photos, sketches, videos etc.) when you fill in your application form online! We encourage you to be as wild and creative with this to help us visualise your design in all its glory!
Are there any special rules and regulations that need to be considered when creating my design?
Yes – all Soapbox designs must comply with set regulations that can be found on the ‘Rules’ tab. All designs are checked against these criteria during the judging period, and if a design fails to comply then your application won’t be considered in the judging phase.
