It's notoriously difficult to acquire FIFA Ultimate Team's best players. If you're lucky enough to grab a Ronaldo or Messi, you'll not only benefit from their incredible stats, but the ability to sell them for a small fortune on the FUT transfer market.
As Ultimate Team's variety of card types continues to grow, it's becoming ever harder to snag the items on our wish lists. However, while the odds certainly aren't in your favour, you'll be the envy of both your friends and FIFA 17 players across the world if you manage to pack any of the following stars.

1. Cristiano Ronaldo

With Ronaldo, you're spoilt for choice. The Real Madrid superstar boasts a 99-rated Team of the Year card in FIFA 17, although it's his Man of the Match variant that often fetches a greater price. The 98-rated card was first awarded following his hat-trick in May's Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid, and recently made another resurgence following his two-goal performance in the final. Additionally, Ronaldo's standard 94-rated card remains a highly valuable acquisition.

2. Pelé

If you're an Xbox One owner, you're in luck. FUT 17's selection of highly-rated legends are exclusive to Microsoft's console, allowing players to get hands-on with all-time greats such as George Best, Bobby Moore and Franz Beckenbauer. Brazilian Pelé is the cream of the crop, sporting a 95-rated card that regularly fetches in excess of 3m coins. Snag one of these in a pack and you'll never go hungry again.

3. Manuel Neuer

Neuer's standard card in FUT 17 is rated at 92 overall, making him the mode's best-rated non-inform keeper. If you're lucky, you might even be able to find a cheap 98 or 97-rated variant of the Bayern Munich star, awarded for Team of the Year and Team of the Season honours respectively over the course of the season. For those who pack him, expect to make around 100k from his standard card on the transfer market.

4. Ruud Gullit

Currently plying his trade as Netherlands' assistant manager, Ruud Gullit is another highly sought-after legend in FUT 17. The 90-rated star commands the midfield with an array of well-rounded stats, including 91 composure, 90 dribbling and 90 reactions. As a result of his abilities, it's his valuation that makes him such a key signing, with the ex-Milan star regularly traded for upwards of 1m coins on the market.

5. Lionel Messi

If you're lucky enough to pack a Lionel Messi, you'll remember it for the rest of your FIFA-playing days. That's especially the case for those who have already grabbed his 98 and 96-rated in-form cards over the past twelve months, both of which sell for millions on the transfer market. His standard 93-rated card will still fetch around half a million, but with a player like Messi, you might just want to keep him to yourself!

6. Sergio Ramos

Real Madrid's captain has enjoyed another trophy-laden year with the La Liga and European champions in 16/17, and this is reflected in a variety of in-form upgrades for the centre-back in FUT 17. Ramos' 96-rated Team of the Year card is particularly noteworthy, although his Man of the Match variant also boasts excellent stats. His 89-rated standard card doesn't sell for vast prices, but its 87 defending, 83 physical and 78 pace stats lend well to any defensive setup.

7. Luis Suárez

You can acquire Barcelona's Luis Suárez in a variety of ways, from paying a fortune for his 98-rated Team of the Year card to completing the La Liga Squad Building Challenge for his 94-rated exclusive variant. Both are costly methods though, with even the latter demanding around 500k of your hard-earned coins. You might just want to try and pack his standard card instead, which remains at the 92-rated mark and goes for around 200k on the transfer market.

8. Neymar

Neymar shares many in-game traits with Suárez, including a 92-rated standard card in FUT 17. The card, which also sells for around 200k on the market, features 96 dribbling, 96 agility and 93 pace, resulting in a devastatingly tricky winger. His best variant comes in the form of a 97-rated Team of the Week card, boosting his overall dribbling stats to 99 while making virtual millionaires out of its owners.
