Curated by Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, Demon Dayz will this year feature Gorillaz in the headline slot. A Red Bull-presented second stage, Hall By The Sea, will play host to Danny Brown, Little Simz, Kali Uchis, Popcaan and Kilo Kish, while a third stage will feature Gorillaz Sound System and DJs.

MAIN STAGE
Vince Staples
This Long Beach rapper broke back in 2015 with his brilliant Def Jam debut Summertime '06 – and shocked the blogs when he revealed he had no love for ‘90s hip-hop names like Biggie and 2Pac. He appears on the Humanz track Ascension (Damon Albarn told Billboard it was partly to impress his 17-year-old daughter Missy, who is a big fan).
De La Soul
Gorillaz and De La Soul go back years – Damon and co recruited the New York hip-hop trio to guest on Feel Good Inc., the first single off of 2005’s Demon Days, and they’ve also appeared on Plastic Beach and Humanz. The admiration is mutual – De La Soul returned last year with the Kickstarter-funded LP And The Anonymous Nobody, which featured a guest spot from Damon on the track Here In After.
Fufanu
Damon Albarn has long had love for Iceland – he lived there for a period in the 1990s, and even part-owns a bar in Reykjavik, Kaffibarinn. He’s also been a champion of this young Icelandic post-punk band, who released their second album, the Nick Zinner-produced Sports, on One Little Indian in February.
HALL BY THE SEA STAGE
Danny Brown
Detroit rapper Danny Brown once told RBMA that one of his biggest influences was Dr Seuss, cartoonist behind The Cat In The Hat, so it’s no surprise he loves Gorillaz. His eccentric, off-beat MC style reached its apogee with last year’s Atrocity Exhibition, and he can be heard alongside Kelela on Humanz track Submission.
Little Simz
London-born rapper Simbi Ajikawo has been making waves globally, appearing on the respected XXL Freshman 2017 list and winning praise from Kendrick Lamar. Her two albums to date – 2015’s A Curious Tale of Trials + Persons and last year’s Stillness in Wonderland – were both released on the independent label AGE: 101 Music. Simz has reportedly recorded a collaboration with Gorillaz, which is yet to see the light of day.
Kali Uchis
Born in Pereira, Colombia but now based in LA, Kali Uchis is an extremely cool singer-songwriter with two mixtapes – 2012’s Drunken Babble and 2015’s Por Vida – to her name. She’s worked with the likes of Snoop Dogg, Kaytranada and Tyler, The Creator, and appears on the Humanz track She’s My Collar.
Popcaan
Jamaican vocalist Popcaan isn't just one of the world's biggest dancehall artists – he's also king of the collaboration, guesting on hits including Jamie xx's Good Times, AlunaGeorge's I'm In Control and Gorillaz's Saturnz Barz. You last saw him on these shores as part of winning Culture Clash 2016 crew Mixpak – it'll be good to have him back.
Kilo Kish
R&B singer, songwriter, painter, textile designer – Florida’s Kilo Kish has that creativity thing down. She broke in 2013 with free-to-download mixtape K+, featuring A$AP Ferg, Childish Gambino and Star Slinger, and dropped her first studio album, Reflections In Real Time, last year. She appears on the Humanz track Out Of Body.
Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel will be taking over Margate's Dreamland amusement park on Saturday June 10. You can watch the whole thing live and exclusively on Red Bull TV – set a reminder here.
