Whether you're new to Crash Bandicoot or a nostalgic veteran, Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy can prove tougher than expected. If you're skilled enough to progress, you'll run into an ever-increasing selection of boss fights, all of which vary in both difficulty and style.
Crash Bandicoot, Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back and Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped all feature some tricky battles, with many enemies appearing more than once. Here are some top tips for the more challenging encounters you'll face across all three games.

1. Crash Bandicoot – Dr. Nitrus Brio

The first game's penultimate boss is Dr. Nitrus Brio – a maniacal scientist who uses potions to unleash attacks. They take the form of green blob-like monsters, and you'll need to jump on them to cause damage. Be sure to avoid his purple concoctions in the process, and eventually, you'll watch as he transforms into a Hulk-like presence. Then, as the ceiling crumbles around you, leap onto a falling block and bounce off Brio's head three times to send him flying out of the window.

2. Crash Bandicoot – Dr. Neo Cortex

The original game's final encounter sees you going one-on-one with the evil Dr. Neo Cortex for the first time. In this level, you'll need to dodge Cortex's laser bolts, spinning only the green-coloured ones back in his direction. The hardest part of this challenge is avoiding an array of side-scrolling blue bolts that move in different patterns. As long as you time your jumps effectively, you shouldn't have too much trouble defeating your nemesis.

3. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back – Tiny Tiger

In this cat-and-mouse level, it's your job to lead Tiny to a series of freefalling platforms. When one or more of the nine platforms flashes red, be sure to jump out of the way at the last second. Tiny's tailgating behaviour will be punished with a loss of health if you time it right, but beware – each successful attempt results in a increasing set of platforms falling to the surface. It'll take a few tries to get the hang of it.

4. Crash Bandicoot 2: Cortex Strikes Back – Dr. N.Gin

This challenge puts you up against a heavily-armed N.Gin, and it's your job to obliterate his weapons with wumpa fruit. You'll need to attack each of his weapons when their respective compartments open up, while ducking and sliding is the best way to avoid his laser beams. Speaking of lasers, N.Gin's final attack can break platforms, so be sure to throw a couple of wumpa fruits as you leap from platform-to-platform to land the definitive killer blows.

5. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped – Dr. N.Gin

N.Gin's Warped battle is notoriously challenging, and even tougher than its Crash 2 counterpart. This time, he's armed with more bullets, laser bolts and missiles, the latter of which must be destroyed due to their homing capabilities. As Coco Bandicoot, you'll need to dodge the rest while attacking each compartment in the same manner as before, utilising your ship's gun to cause damage. And just when you think you've completed the level, you'll realise the fight has barely begun...

6. Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped – Dr. Neo Cortex

The final level in the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy is an epic showdown between good and evil. You'll need to avoid the tussling Aku Aku and Uka Uka who battle throughout the map, but dodging Cortex's laser bolts and bombs is your key focus. When his forcefield fizzes out, that's your cue to unleash a set of spin attacks that send him crashing into the level's central pit. Do this enough times, and you'll have completed the N.Sane Trilogy!
