Los Angeles is a cultural melting pot, and one of the best reflections of that is in the city’s car scene. From illegal, traffic-stopping drifters in Compton to high-end Porsche resto modders to low rider fanatics in their ’64 Impalas, there’s room in LA for everyone.
Those different scenes are represented in LA: CARS + MUSIC, a new short documentary featuring some of the most influential figures shaping LA’s automotive culture, while also looking at the importance of music within each scene.
Directed by Van Alpert, with guidance from one of the film’s stars, Estevan Oriol, LA: CARS + MUSIC was created as part of the Ryoji Ikeda – A [for 100 Cars] event at the Red Bull Music Academy Festival Los Angeles. That event, taking place on October 15 2017, will aim to create the world’s largest synth orchestra by uniting the best car audio systems in Los Angeles.
