Moby has a book out – the very entertaining Porcelain, which traces his life from underground dance DJ to chill-out overlord and perhaps the world’s most famous Christian vegan.
As he’s in a retrospective frame of mind, he’s also handed some of his classic tracks to the UK drum’n’bass fraternity for the full remix treatment. Due out May 5, Moby: Drum’n’Bass Remixes features radical overhauls from Icicle, Pola & Bryson, Technimatic and Fourward, who take 1990 rave classic Go and wrap its haunting Angelo Badalamenti strings with rolling breakbeats and darkside distortion.
These beautifully melancholic strings were the perfect basis for a techy, dark roller

Say Fourward:
“We were really stoked to do a remix of this Moby classic, so huge! When we first got the stems, one element that really caught our attention were the Twin Peaks-sampled strings (check out Laura Palmer’s Theme if you don’t know). These beautifully melancholic strings have always felt very haunting and dark so for us this was the perfect basis for a techy, dark roller. We wanted to keep it classic so poured in a tonne of grizzly Reese Bass for an old-school vibe, but at the same time applied a modern mixdown. One thing – it absolutely smashes a dance floor! Very happy with the results.”
