See a perfectly synchronised MotoGP crash
If you thought Marc Márquez and Andrea Dovizioso’s tandem fall at 2016’s French GP was spectacular…
At first sight, in real time and in the thick of the race action, it seemed certain that something must have happened between Marc Márquez and AndreaDovizoso when they crashed together at Le Mans during the 2016 season.
When the replays started up, it became clear however that we’d witnessed a bit of a freak MotoGP occurrence. The duo went down, in the same corner, at exactly the same moment, and without making any contact.
Both Márquez and Dovizioso lost the front under braking, sliding out in perfect synchronicity.
As rare as it was, it’s happened before.
During the 1990 West Germany Grand Prix, Mick Doohan and PierfrancescoChili did exactly the same thing. The difference with their crash, however, was that it was a highside.
Sending both riders into orbit, their bikes flicked them off in a stunning moment of perfect timing combined with scary aggression.
