Team South have won Red Bull 5G. They beat Team North 4-1 to win the first ever Red Bull 5G tournament in the UK and secure a trip to Japan.
The squad, made up of some of the finest gamers from the south of the UK, got off to a great start in Project CARS as CAR_Ralphy led from the beginning. Next up, Street Fighter player ImStillDaDaddy held off a spirited comeback from Infexious to win a 3-2 thriller and give Team South a 2-0 lead. Rocket League squad Japan Sounds Nice sealed it with a 2-1 win.
The north's Superninja ensured it wasn't a whitewash with a win over the south's Hello Leeroy in Hearthstone, but Team Recall beat Perilous Void in League of Legends to make it a 4-1 victory for Team South.

How Team South won Red Bull 5G

Car_Ralphy got Team South off to a dream start in Project CARS, securing pole position in qualifying before getting a clean start in the main race. Meanwhile, his team-mate Thomaso and the north’s Unduebow bumped into each other as they battled for second place – Unduebow briefly raced ahead, but Thomaso overtook immediately.
Ahead of the pack, CAR_Ralphy enjoyed the perfect race as his flawless driving display secured victory in the race and a 1-0 lead for Team North. Thomaso finished behind him in second, with Unduebow in third and DJ Purenoise fourth.

ImStillDaDaddy wins a Street Fighter thriller

It looked like Team South were going to dominate a second game in a row when Street Fighter V player ImStillDaDaddy shot into a 2-0 lead over Team North’s Infexious. His Guile kept his distance and constantly landed his Sonic Booms in the opening two sets, but in the third bout, Infexious’ Zangief began to read Guile’s moves and managed to get up close to land his Screw Piledrivers. Amazingly, he brought it back to 2-2 to set up a deciding set.
The momentum was with Infexious, but ImStillDaDaddy managed to get back into the game. As in the first two sets, he kept his distance and started landing those Sonic Booms again to give him the lead in the decider. It looked like it was going to be a simple 2-0 victory, but Infexious hit back with a Cyclone Lariat followed by an SPD to set up a deciding round. It wasn’t to be the ultimate comeback, though, as Guile’s Sonic Booms gave ImStillDaDaddy an early lead in the final bout, and he finished Zangief off with un uppercut to make it 2-0 to Team South.

With Markydooda and Doomsee – two of the best players in Europe – on their side, Team South’s Japan Sounds Nice were the hot favourites going into this match. However, it was Team North’s Teamus Weamus Reborn who took a surprise early lead through Lunation.
Mye_bipod_4shor equalised before Alieuzz gave Team Weamus the lead again, but when star players Markydooda and Doomsee both scored to give Team North a 3-2 lead, it looked like it was all over. Yet, Alieuzz had other ideas, smacking home from miles out to send the match into overtime. Team North had their chances and hit the bar in OT, but with Markydooda and dominating in the air, Japan Sounds Nice scored the decisive goal.
It looked like Japan Sounds Nice were going to win 2-0 as they pinned Teamus Weamus back in their own half and took the lead. However, Alieuzz counter-attacked to make it 1-1, and with the clock on zero, TeamusWeamus kept the ball in the air and scored in the final second to take it to a decider.
Japan Sounds Nice took charge of the final match as Teamus Weamus’ defensive solidity deserted them. Markydooda gave JSN an early lead and Doomsee made it 2-0 from his own half without a defender in sight. Lunation hit back, but then made a defensive error as he missed the ball on the line. That made it 3-1, but Lunation atoned for his error, scoring with a looping volley to make it 3-2.
Doomsee netted again with another long-distance shot, before Markydooda made it five. Lunation bagged another for his hat-trick with seven seconds left, but it was in vain – Japan Sounds Nice’s 5-3 victory gave Team South an unassailable 3-0 lead.

Team South's Hello Leeroy took charge of the first encounter, but Superninja turned it around when he played a Flame Strike to take back control before his Fireball gave him a 1-0 lead.
Leeroy hit back with a powerful Druid deck in the second round. It looked like he had enough to see off Superninja, but the Team South man counted on his fingers to make sure he had enough damage, before unleashing his attacks to make it 1-1.
Hello Leeroy dominated the next battle to take a 2-1 lead, and he looked as if he would seal it for the south when he gained board control in the fourth game, but this time he just didn't have enough damage to land the killer blow, and Superninja gained the upper hand to send the match into a decider.
In the final match, once again Superninja had his back against the wall, and this time it was his Ragnaros who swung the battle in his favour to give Team North their first point.

Despite missing out on a trip to Japan, Perilous Void were looking to end the day on a high for Team North, and they got off to a good start with a wonderfully orchestrated gank in the bottom lane giving them an early 1-0 lead.
From there, the lead swung back and forth as small battles took place all over the map, but the turning point came when Recall got the Baron with a highly risky, but ultimately rewarding play. Recall went for Baron Nashor, but when they saw Perilous Void coming, rather than attempting to get the objective before their northern rivals, they engaged in a winner-takes-all team fight. They were victorious and the advantage was theirs.
Recall really used the Baron to its full potential, managing to keep all their team alive, before taking down the first Nexus Tower with the score at 15-10. The second Nexus was nearly destroyed, but Perilous Void held on, pushing the game beyond the 30 minute mark. However, they were on their last legs, and couldn’t hold on for long as Recall kept racking up the kills until they found a way to knock down the second tower and make it 4-1 to Team South.
