Last week’s invite-only show at Red Bull Studios London was one of the parties of the year so far. On Friday March 10, 200 lucky competition winners squeezed into the studio space near London’s Tower Bridge, which was done out with Japanese lanterns and flowers as a nod to Snakehips’ fascination for Asian culture. “We’ve always had a Japanese vibe to all our videos and artwork,” says James Carter. “It’s always been our aesthetic in a way.”
MØ’s got a really great voice, such great vibes – she’s really unique
The night featured DJ sets from Sian Anderson and Snakehips, before MØ came out to join the Snakehips guys for a performance of Don’t Leave. Carter also shed a little light on how the collaboration of the year came to be.
“The first time we met MØ was actually at Bestival last summer, but we’d spoke about working on a tune before that,” he says. “We’d made this track and thought she’d be the perfect person to sing it. We ended up sending the music back and forth – she actually recorded a load of it in England when she was here, while we were on tour in America.”
“We love all of her stuff, she’s awesome. She’s got a really great voice, such great vibes – she’s really unique.”
