Gran Turismo 6, the sixth title in the legendary racing sim franchise has landed on PS3 - and this month’s tune-up has made it even better, bringing brand new Red Bull cars to the starting grid.
To celebrate the arrival of Red Bull X Challenge, we’re counting down our ten favourite cars to hit the track. Join us as we look at all the amazing vehicles in the GT6 digital garage.

Now this is one scenic track. Yes, the very same Lunar Rover that blasted into space aboard Apollo 15 can be yours to drive, compete with missions actually set on the moon. Put the pedal to the metal on the lunar surface, but just try not to flip your buggy in low gravity.

There are no shortages of Ferraris in Gran Turismo 6, but it’s the roaring FXX that stands out for us. It’s blazing fast, handles like a dream and looks like a rocket on wheels - this is one car you’ll want to take for a spin, and you’ll be sure to be lifting plenty of trophies with it too.

KTM’s X-BOW (pronounced crossbow) not only looks like the deadly weapon it’s named after, it’s also similarly barebones and slings ahead just like a fired arrow too. It may look simple, but whipping it around the track is exhilarating - the Nürburgring will never know what’s hit it.

Subaru BRZ GT300 Base Model '12

The stock Subaru BRZ might share its DNA with Toyota’s GT86 coupe, but this mean BRZ GT300 is nothing like Toyota’s road-worthy machine - this is no commuter buggy, but a mean, lean track warrior that handles like a champ.

Want something a bit more vintage? The classically-styled Ferrari Dino 246 GT ‘71 not only looks like an incredible retro ride, but it oozes pure Ferrari style too. Endowed with an all-aluminium body and armed with a 1,987 cc aluminium V6 instead of Ferrari’s traditional V12, it’s still a rapid machine that’s perfect for quick cruises or swift laps around the track.

It wouldn’t be a Gran Turismo game without Ford’s legendary GT40, and the iconic American racer is back once again rendered in full HD glory. It’s a lightweight classic, powered by an all-aluminum 4.7 L V8 OHV engine, meaning it’s quick out the gate and hard to catch up with - and with four Le Mans wins under its belt until 1969, this is one car you don’t want to mess with.

DMC DeLorean S2 '04

We don’t think this DeLorean comes packing a flux capacitor, but we do know you’ll love throwing it about the track and going well over 88 miles per hour without travelling through time. The iconic stainless steel car that comes complete with gullwing doors can be yours to drive through any of your favourite tracks, although don’t expect to go back to the future with it. Yet.

Why this incredible-looking car was only a concept, we have no idea, as it looks absolutely gorgeous. It’s fashioned in the image of a classic Corvette, but under the hood it’s a totally different beast. It’s armed with a massive 302.8 BHP fuel-injected 283 engine and it screams along the track - hopes were originally high for its performance in racing, but the StingRay project came to a grinding halt as the American Automotive Manufacturer’s association banned the participation of manufacturers from racing - still, you can take it for a spin and hit the track with it in all its glory.

Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo

This Mercedes-Benz Vision Gran Turismo concept car is one mean machine. It’s reminiscent of the classic Mercedes-Benz 300SL, the winner of the Carrera Panamericana in 1952, a race known for its brutal, unforgiving conditions, but this concept is a futuristic torpedo that’ll dominate absolutely everything. It’s packing a 5.5 litre V8 twin turbo engine and boasts an output of 577BHP, along with a styled body of extreme proportions - this is one exclusive car you’ll definitely want to take for a spin.

And here we are - the incredible Red Bull X2014, the brainchild of Red Bull Racing’s chief technical officer Adrian Newey’s boundless imagination. It comes in three different versions - Junior, Standard and Fan - with the latter not just pushing the boundaries of how we think a car should look and work, but trampling them.
The Infiniti Red Bull Racing maestro drove far outside the box to come up with an exceptional looking car that absolutely screams - if there were no F1 regulations, this is what would be first on the starting grid, every single time. Newey has managed to improve on the previous X2010 and X2011 designs from previous Gran Turismo games, and has delivered a car that’s unlike anything else in GT6 - trust us, it absolutely flies.
