Juan Diego 'Johny' Salido got his very first mountain bike on his ninth birthday and from that moment on he's been on a wild ride to becoming one of the top prospects in freeride and a trailblazer for the sport in Latin America.

Rampage all the way

From the moment he first saw the event, there's been one contest above all others that Johny wanted to compete in: Red Bull Rampage. "If you want to be a freerider and want to be at the top, Rampage is the way," he says.
He got his chance during a breakout 2019, when he turned heads by finishing second at Proving Grounds, the Red Bull Rampage qualifying event, securing a spot in the biggest and most prestigious event in mountain biking and making history as the first Mexican rider to compete in the event.
Unfortunately, a heavy crash on the final day of practice resulted in Johny suffering a ruptured spleen that put him out of finals and in the hospital.

Blazing a trail

He was soon back on his bike and blazing a trail for Latin American mountain biking at the biggest freeride events around the globe, as well as tackling some of the gnarliest races out there too, including Red Bull Hardline and the Red Bull Cerro Abajo.
Johny's also branched out into running his own event as well, the Freeride Fiesta at the La Soledad Bike Park in his home city of Guadalajara, with the aim of growing the sport in Latin America.
